The Empty Space Theatre's Education Program
Beyond These Walls connects young people on the verge of adulthood to the experience of uncommon theatre; we focus on theatre as a point of departure, the beginning of a lively exchange about issues, observation, experience and self-expression.
Through imaginative and innovative performance, we present theatre as a vehicle for conversation and examination within the classroom and beyond. In turn, Beyond These Walls strives to create a platform for all students to understand the potential and possibility that the arts can represent in our community.
We provide intensive interdisciplinary studies using the arts as a vehicle to explore life issues. The Empty Space is dedicated to nurturing young artists and supporting their transition into higher education and/or the arts community.
Our outreach is achieved through a high school matinee program including:
-
a free matinee performance of a show within our season
reserved specifically for students & educators
-
pre-performance study guides
-
post-performance in-class discussion workshops led by actors from the production
